Belarusian Experts on Science and Education Visit Brussels

On the invitation of the Office for Democratic Belarus in Brussels, Belgium, and in cooperation with the Foundation for Legal Technologies Development (Ukraine), another group of Belarusian experts on Education and Research visited Brussels on December 14-17, 2009. The delegation which included representatives with various backgrounds from public universities and educational institutions, took part in a training course: “EU Education and Research Policy: Sharing Knowledge with Belarus”.

During the training course, the Belarusian delegates had a chance to get familiar with the work of various EU institutions and meet key experts on Education and the region (Belarus) from the Consilium, and from different Units of the European Commission.

Topics that were covered in the programme included Current Legislation on the Intellectual Property, Life-long learning programmes, Gender Equality, 7th Framework Programme for Research and International Research Cooperation, Educational issues and policies in Eastern Partnership, and EU policy towards Belarus.

This visit is part of a larger programme for Belarusian experts, which is being implemented by the Office for a Democratic Belarus in cooperation with the Foundation for Legal Technologies Development and supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DMFA). Candidates for the participation in this programme are selected through an open call for applications. The organizers welcome participation of experts from both civil society initiatives and government –affiliated structures.
