The Commission Launches Call for Sustainable Urban Demonstration Projects for the Covenant of Mayors Signatories
The European Commission has launched the Call for Sustainable Urban Demonstration Projects for the Covenant of Mayors signatories. The Covenant of Mayors is the mainstream European movement involving local and regional authorities, voluntarily committing to increasing energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources on their territories. By their commitment, Covenant signatories aim to meet and exceed the European Union 20% CO2 reduction objective by 2020. More detailed information is available here:
The objective of this Call for Proposals is to enable local authorities in the Eastern Partnership countries to implement pilot projects incorporated in their Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs) under the Covenant of Mayors and thus to bridge the gap between the SEAPs and their practical implementation.
The deadline for the submission of Concept Notes is 21 March 2014. Pre-selected applicants will then be invited to submit their full applications by June 2014.
The Guidelines for applicants and application forms are available here: https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/europeaid/online-services/index.cfm?do=publi.welcome&nbPubliList=15&orderby=upd&orderbyad=Desc&searchtype=RS&aofr=135376 .
