Prospects for joint Belarusian-German projects were discussed at the meeting on establishing partnerships and exchanging experience in the field of sustainable development, which was held in Hrodna by ODB Brussels within the framework of "Clearing House" programme in partnership of the Support Programme of Belarus of the Federal Government of Germany. Social work, volunteering, restoration of wetlands, and innovation in agriculture and energy are among the areas of interest for Belarusian and German CSOs.
On April 25, a sectoral discussion "Problems and Prospects for Youth Entrepreneurship in Belarus" was held in Minsk. Belarusian expert Sergey Chalyi, author and host of "Economics in Layman's Terms" (TUT.BY) programme, attended the meeting with young entrepreneurs and students to give a talk on how to start a new business and what is the secret of startups. The discussion was held within the framework of Belarusian youth festival on economics and entrepreneurship "Ladder of Success".
On April 24, Minsk hosted the first "round table" within the framework of the EU/UNDP project "Support to Local Development in the Republic of Belarus". Participants of the meeting – representatives of local authorities of Minsk region and the region's civil society organizations – reviewed case studies of international technical aid projects that were implemented in Belarus and discussed preparation for the 1st Contest of Local Initiatives. Clearing House consultants are currently providing support in preparing and filling in applications for the contest.
Elena Kuvichka, fundraising expert and Board Member of "Inva-Sodeystvie", organisation for the disabled (Sukhumi), shared her views on the competition between civil society organisations in social sphere and said why social activists should not be ashamed of making money by engaging in social entrepreneurship.

On December 15, 2014, Mahiliou hosted a sectoral discussion "Opportunities for Cooperation Between the Government and Non-Governmental Organisations" where NGO representatives had a chance to debate whether there is a need to develop draft regulations on the activities of "socially beneficial" organisations. Participants of the event, who included representatives of local authorities, evaluated existing opportunities for public organizations and initiatives to participate in social services commissioning and join certain governmental social service programmes.
Suggestions voiced by NGOs during a sectoral discussion on local and regional development on December, 1, in Brest, will be taken into account when preparing the third version of Brest Region Strategy of Sustainable Development. The document can be presented to the public as early as January, 2015, after it has been approved by the Brest Region Executive Committee and a board of experts.

The Clearing House project is implemented by the Office for a Democratic Belarus in cooperation with the Office for European Expertise and Communication. It is aimed at building the organisational capacity of Belarusian civil society organisations and enhancing their cooperation, while improving coordination among Belarusian civil society organizations and the European Union, European donors and international implementers.
