European Intercultural Festival-2013 Gets its Symbol

In April, we announced a completion for the best logo of the “European Intercultural Festival-2013”, that is going to take place in Belarusian capital and a few regional centers from May 20th until May 26th, in the month of all-European celebration of peace and unity.
In accordance with terms of the contest, participants were to come up with a logo that would represent European unity, based on common values, and also belonging of Belarus and other countries of Eastern Partnership to the “European home”.

Victorya Vilcheuskaya. Born in Lida, she lives in Minsk. She studied in school specializing in architecture and art, and later on – in BNTU (Belarusian National Technical University) at the department of Architecture. She works as an architect (for 5 years). Alongside she participated in and even won several professional competitions. She takes an interest in cultural life of the capital, traveling by her own routes, and gets inspiration from meeting interesting and extraordinary people. A cyclist. A romantic.

A young architect, Viktorya Vilcheuskaya, became the winner of the contest.  According to her, the idea of such image for the cross-cultural festival came accidentally, just by looking at the European map. “In my opinion, - she says, - countries of Europe are very interconnected. The petals, that are situated on the left and at the bottom: red, orange and yellow – are countries of the European Union. The green one is for the “Eastern Partnership”. And all of them converge in Belarus, which will become for a week a real cross-cultural platform”.

Let us remind you that besides the logo contest, calls are open until June 20th for a photographic competition “European neighbourhood”, a contest of the EU-Belarus policy proposals on improving collaborations between the EU and Belarus, and also a competition of children’s drawings “Colourful Europe”.

Jury for the contests will be composed of the organizers, professional photographers, analysts from research institutes that work on European subject area, and also representatives of several embassies of European countries in Belarus. Nice prizes are waiting for the winners!

Festival of this kind is held in Belarus for the first time. During the week, organizers, among which are Belarusian and international organizations, as well as diplomatic representations of European countries, will be telling Belarusians about history and culture of the participating countries of the European Union, and other countries, which together with Belarus comprise the initiative of “Eastern Partnership”.
