The Office for a Democratic Belarus is happy to inform that a popular book by Uladzimer Arlou and Zmicer Herasimovich 'THIS COUNTRY CALLED BELARUS. AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY' was published by the Slovak publishing house "Kalligram". It is the first English-language publication of its kind dedicated to the history of Belarus prepared by Belarusian authors. The translation as well as the introductory part of the book was prepared by the British scholar and well-known expert in Belarus language Professor Jim Dingley. The book introduces the reader the past of Belarus from ancient times to the early twentieth century. The text is accompanied by about two thousand illustrations, including unique chronicle miniature, medieval prints, rare photos. The book argues convincingly that Belarusians historically, culturally and mentally belongs to Europe. Presentations of the book will be held in Minsk, Brussels and several other European capitals.
