On 5 November 2008, an exhibition of Belarusian posters, entitled “Visual Code of the Time: Post-Soviet Art in Belarus”, has opened in Dresden’s Aquarium club.
Famous for its art galleries, Dresden is the third European city that hosts the travelling exhibition organised by the Office for a Democratic Belarus with the support of the Bratislava office of the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Prior to its arrival in Germany, the exhibition was on display in Warsaw’s Zoya Gallery.
From 7 to 21 October the exhibition that features works of 15 Belarusian masters of poster design was seen by the Warsaw public at the city’s Zoya gallery. From Poland, the exhibition moved to Germany. While on display in Berlin’s Für Fortgeschrittene gallery, the exhibition attracted a wide range of visitors, including representatives of the Belarusian community of Germany.
The organisers also prepared a catalogue of the travelling exhibition that includes 44 reproductions of the presented posters accompanied by explanatory texts in the English and Belarusian languages.
The exhibition is open to the public until 31 November 2008.
The Office for a Democratic Belarus expresses its gratitude to the Aquarium Club, Kultur Aktiv and all other partners that helped make this project possible.
