Photo-Exhibition ‘Discovering Belarus: Images of Today and Beyond’ by Belarusian Photographer Siarhei Balay Took Place in Brussels

On 18 December the Office for a Democratic Belarus and the Secretariat of the Steering Committee of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum organized the exhibition ‘Discovering Belarus: Images of Today and Beyond’  by the Belarusian photographer Siarhei Balay in Brussels.

The exposition includes more than 30 images picturing different moments of everyday life in Belarus -- photographs taken during traditional feasts and celebrations, in craft schools, or while discovery trips around  different Belarusian towns and villages.  Balay’s pictures present the life led by ordinary Belarusians and offer an insider's look into their world of traditions, believes, happiness and sorrows.

Siarhei Balay holds the first prize of the Belarus Press-Photo Competition 2011 in the news category, and a second prize in  the  ‘Daily life’ nomination. In 2008, he  also won the second prize in the ‘Belarus with the Eyes of Journalists’ competition organised by the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ).

The opening of the exhibition was followed by an informal presentation of the EaP CSF Secretariat and a Christmas cocktail reception.
