Belarus is becoming a more and more urbanized country, where the growth of cities goes hand in hand with the ever increasing mobility of its population. However, unbalanced urban development and uncontrolled motorization pose a lot of challenges. Experience of different countries demonstrates that it is necessary not only to build roads and improve public transportation but also to develop new mobility management tools, all the while focusing on the real needs of all groups of population and their mobility capabilities.

On April 26, 2016, Minsk will host a specialized seminar "New Tools for Integrated Urban and Transport Planning".

The goal of the event is to introduce EU initiatives and programmes focused on sustainable urban mobility and public transportation, discuss prospects of integrating urban and transport planning based on designing and implementing sustainable urban mobility plans, as well as learn about success stories of cities participating in the European Mobility Week.

Experts from the United Kingdom, Germany, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia will take part in the discussions.

The event will start at 10 a.m. Venue: Minsk, 11 Gazety Pravda avenue,  Johannes Rau International Centre for Education and Exchange.
