Lecture by Carita Peltonen “Are the Nordic Countries a Paradise for Women? And what about the men? Gender equality in the Nordic countries”
“Office for a Democratic Belarus” in partnership with Belarusian Youth Public Association “New faces” invite to the lecture by Carita Peltonen “Are the Nordic countries a paradise for women? And what about the men? Gender equality in the Nordic countries” that will take place on September 10, 2014 from 14.00 to 16.00 in Minsk (Blvrd Talbukhina 2, lecture room 227 a, metrostation “Park Caluskincau”). Admission is free, but preliminary registration by e-mail info@odb-office.eu is required. Registration deadline is September, 9, 2014. The lecture is held in Belarus for the first time, within the framework of the “European Intercultural Festival”.
One of the topical issues in Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Finland “What is the policy of gender equality for”; what benefits can this policy give to women and men in our society nowadays; can we call the Nordic countries a paradise for women, and what are the Nordic men thinking of gender equality – these are the questions Carita Peltonen is going to raise. She has studied the development of the gender equality policies in the most progressive region in this field – the Nordic countries, which cooperated on this subject for more than 40 years. During the lecture the Finnish expert will reveal the advantages and disadvantages of such policies.
Carita Peltonen is an international expert in gender equality policy and a scientist, for more than 20 years she’d been consulting the national governments and local authorities of Russia and Baltic countries on gender equality. She was a Senior Adviser on gender equality at Nordic Council of Ministers Secretariat in Copenhagen, Denmark; worked as a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Organic Chemistry at Abo Akademi University (Turku, Finland). Her articles on organic chemistry and gender equality are published in scientific and weekly magazines. Today Carita Peltonen is a Director of CaPe Consulting in Copenhagen, Denmark.
