The Office for a Democratic Belarus and the Belarusian Association of Journalists are pleased to invite you to the opening of the photo exhibition ‘December 19 as Seen by Journalists’. The event is hosted by The Permanent Representation of Sweden to the European Union. Following the exhibition a briefing and discussion on the freedom of media in Belarus after the presidential election on 19 December, 2010 will be held. Ambassador Dag Hartelius will introduce the briefing carried out by Ms Zhanna Litvina, head of the Belarusian Association of Journalists.
The event will take place on 2 March 2011 from 16.30-18.30 at The Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU (Square de Meeûs 30, 1000 Brussels).
Drinks and a light snack will be provided.
The exhibition consists of 46 images by seven Belarusian photographers working for Agence France Presse, the Associated Press, the ITAR-TASS and some well-known Belarusian and Russian media.
The event is supported by the International Media Support and the International Federation of Journalists.

Since 2007, Ms Avimava has been a press photographer with the news agency BelaPAN. In 2008-2009, she carried out a photo project dedicated to the theatre studios in prisons (reformatories) of Belarus. Ksenija continues her work on this topic and currently takes photos of former prisoners. She participated in four exhibitions in Minsk, Kyiv, Strasbourg, and organised three personal exhibitions in Minsk and Tallinn.
As the news photographer, Alyaksei has begun the professional work in agency the Belarus Cable Agency (BelTa) (1999-2000). After that he worked in the youth newspaper “Znamya Junosty”(2000-2002), later in the “Komsomolskaja Pravda in Belarus”.
Currently, Alyaksei is working for the weekly journal "Observer" (2006-n\t), actively cooperates with the AFP - the Moscow bureau, "FOTOXPRESS", “ROSFOTO”.

Dzmitry has the experience of working as a freelance photojournalist for the following newspapers: “Znamya Yunosti”, “Narodnaya Gazeta”, “Belgazeta”, “Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus”. He also is cooperating with the following agencies: “France Press”, “Associated Press”, and “Kommersant”.
Uladzimir, photographer with the news agency BelaPAN. During the One World Festival 2009 (Prague), he hosted his own exhibition “Real Belarus”.
Vadim Zamirouski graduated in 2001 from the College of Technology with the specialization in photography. His professional experience includes working for the newspapers “Znamya Yunosti” and “Minskiy Kurier”. He is also cooperating with the agency ITAR-TASS. At the moment, he is serving as a photojournalist for the “Belgazeta” newspaper.
Syarhei Balay used to work as a photojournalist for the “Khimik” newspaper (Navapolatsk). He also contributed to the web-site XIMIK.INFO, to regional and national newspapers. Today, Syarhei writes for the online newspaper “Salidarnasts” (gazetaby.com) and serves as a photojournalist at the Abazhur Publishers (Belarusian Association of Journalists).
Syarhei held two personal exhibitions in Navapolatsk in 2008 and won the second place in the contest “Belarus through the eyes of photojournalists”.

In 2003 he held an exhibition called “17 years of tragedy” devoted to the aftermath of explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1986.
