Last December, Barauliany institution “Leisure  Centre for Adults and Children “EcoZhizn” (“EcoLife”) turned two years old. At the moment, the centre occupies a large space of 80 sq. meters with authentic Indian furniture. It is here that we meet its founder Aksana Bernatskaya to talk about her reasons to participate in the Biz4all-2 social entrepreneurship programme and plans to develop leisure opportunities for adults and children in Barauliany.

On February 17-18, the third Biz4all offline training was held, offering the participants a chance to spend two days practicing their interviewing skills, pitching and listening to their customers. They also created a portrait of their ideal customer.

On January 13-14,  Johannes Rau International Centre for Education and Exchange in Minsk hosted the second offline learning session of the Biz4all-2 social entrepreneurship training programme. By that time, the participants had already completed first six online tasks. At the moment, their assignments are mainly analytical: the participants review social entrepreneurship case studies and look into areas where such projects work, but the next set of tasks will be practical, dedicated to customer relations and developing a minimally viable product.

More than a year ago, Diana Sivitskaya launched her social project "Socks from Grandma”. With this project, she took part in the Biz4all "Social Entrepreneurship Incubator” programme organized by ODB Brussels (Belgium) in partnership with TNU Network University (Netherlands) with financial support from the European Union. Diana Sivitskaya and Olga Miklashevich, the project team, organized two social crowdfunding campaigns. The first campaign was part of a home task for the Biz4all programme, and then the girls just did not want to stop.

Late December saw the final meeting of the working group on social entrepreneurship development in Belarus. In late 2016, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection entrusted the Research Institute of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus with the task to conduct a survey on “The need for and the degree of legislative regulation of the sphere of social entrepreneurship in the Republic of Belarus”. In April 2017, the Research Institute of the Ministry of Labour and Social protection, with support from the Support Programme of Belarus of the Federal Government of Germany and ODB Brussels, came forward with an initiative to create a working group to help organize this survey. Throughout the year, the working group had 5 meetings, the last of which happened on December 19, 2017.

On December 16,Social Entrepreneurship IncubatorBiz4all-2 programme had its first online training. The teams, having gathered from across Belarus, spend the first half of the day learning about social entrepreneurship and its differences from traditional business, had the opportunity to meet participants of the first school and representatives of the Belarusian diaspora. The final part of the session included presentations from representatives of initiatives and organizations, who, while doing business, are trying to solve urgent social problems.

For many years now, the Public Association of Mental Health Consumers has operated in Minsk. Veranika Kavalyova describes that several years ago mothers who have children with mental illness or special mental abilities took the initiative to create an organization that would protect the rights of their children. Over several years, the association organized two first season of rehabilitation camps. Specialists and volunteers provided help to more than two dozens of young men and women. Veranika Kavalyova and psychologist Tatiana Yurachkina came to the EU-funded Biz4all “Social Entrepreneurship Incubator” with their project of a rehabilitation camp for people with special mental abilities “Adnaulenne” (“Renewal”).

On August 31, Brest has hosted an intensive course on social innovation in the creative field. The training was organized by the Berlin Social Innovation School "Eastern Partnership" and ODB Brussels and initiated by the Dekabristen e.V, a German non-profit organization, with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany. More than 20 people from all over Belarus came to the cozy space of KH to get to know each other, exchange contacts, and discuss their projects and plans for the future.

Late autumn saw the final event of the Biz4all social entrepreneurship training programme (see video from the final here). The programme is implemented by ODB Brussels (Belgium) in partnership with the TNU Network University (Netherlands) within the framework of the EU-funded “Social Entrepreneurship Incubator” programme. In mid-December, the second batch of entrepreneurs came to take part in Biz4all-2. With over 100 applications, the organizers selected 23 teams (67 people). An important condition was for the teams to include from 2 to 6 people, and for each participant to attend each offline training without exception.
